You should always buy quality furniture. It’s just better for your finances to buy once vs buying and then needing to replace. That said, I think some things matter more than others. I wouldn’t say I really have rules about when to buy quality vs when to not, but I think there are some things you should trend toward if possible.

Don’t just automatically go with your normal bank. You don’t have to and you don’t need to. Once you have your credit score checked at one institution there’s typically a period where you can continue to get your credit checked without any further impact to your score - this is built in to protect you as a borrower so that you can explore your options, so use it!
